  1. Purpose

The Christ Church School, (TCCS) is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of every child in our care.

This policy outlines how we prevent abuse, respond to concerns, and create a safe environment for all students.

This policy applies to:

• Volunteers
• Contractors
• Visitors
• Board members
• Students

Every adult connected to the school shares responsibility for child protection.

We commit to:

• Protect children from harm
• Provide a safe learning environment
• Treat all students with dignity and respect
• Act quickly on any safeguarding concern
• Comply with national child protection laws and education regulations

  1. Definitions of Abuse

Abuse includes but is not limited to:

• Physical abuse, causing physical harm
• Emotional abuse, persistent emotional mistreatment
• Sexual abuse, involving a child in sexual activity
• Neglect, failing to meet a child’s basic needs
• Bullying, including cyberbullying
• Exploitation

Any suspicion of abuse must be reported immediately.

  1. Code of Conduct for Staff

All staff must:e
• Maintain professional boundaries
• Avoid being alone with a student in isolated spaces
• Use appropriate language at all times
• Avoid physical contact unless necessary and appropriate
• Never engage in inappropriate communication with students
• Never request or accept private meetings outside school without authorisation

Failure to follow this code may result in disciplinary action.

  1. Safe Recruitment

The school implements safe recruitment practices:

• Background checks where required
• Reference verification
• Identity verification
• Review of employment history
• Clear job descriptions outlining safeguarding responsibilities

  1. Reporting Concerns

All staff must report any safeguarding concerns to the designated safeguarding lead immediately.

Concerns may include:

• Signs of abuse
• Disclosure by a child
• Suspicious behavior by staff or visitors
• Bullying incidents

The school will:

• Record the concern
• Assess the risk
• Inform parents or guardians where appropriate
• Report to relevant authorities when required by law

No staff member should investigate independently.

Safeguarding information is confidential.

Information will be shared only with those who need to know in order to protect the child.

  1. Online Safety

The school promotes responsible use of technology.

We:

• Monitor school internet use
• Educate students about online risks
• Prohibit inappropriate online contact
• Enforce acceptable use policies

  1. Anti Bullying

The school maintains a zero tolerance approach to bullying.

All reported incidents will be investigated promptly and addressed fairly.

• Sign in at reception
• Wear identification badges
